What does "proper use" mean?
- There are some things you can do to insure your candle gets the maximum life possible:
- Trim candle wick to .5cm (1/4in) before each use
- Do not leave candles unattended or in easy reach of children and/or pets
- We recommend burning our candles for at least two hours during each use, you want to be sure the melted wax reaches the edges of the candle container
- To prevent overheating, do not burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time
- Never burn a candle near anything that can catch on fire
- Always keep the melted wax free of any debris
- Never move a candle while it's lit and do not touch a lit candle or the hot wax
- Keep candles on a flat, heat resistant surface and away from vents or drafts
- Extinguish candles by using a wick dipper, do not blow out or put out a lit candle with the lid
- The candle is finished when .5cm (1/4in) of wax remains in the jar
Why is there black soot on my candle?
- Sometimes a small amount of soot can be produced by a candle, this is completely normal and safe. Soot is a natural byproduct of incomplete combustion and can largely be avoided by following the instructions above. If you do see any soot on your candle, simply wipe it away with a paper towel or wet wipe when the candle is cool.
What kind of wax do you use?
- At Young Mary's all of are candles are made from a blended wax that contains both vegetable and mineral waxes. Our candles aren't colored and carry a higher than average fragrance load, which meant it was important for us to find the right mineral and vegetable mix to bring you the best candle we could.
- Our wax melts are designed to breakable, allowing you to use as many or as few as you'd like in your wax warmer or oil diffuser. Because of the extra needed strength this requires, we use 100% soy wax for our melts.
Are your containers reusable?
- Absolutely! From our travel tins to our large apothecary jars, are candle containers are made to last. Once your candle is finished simply heat any of our containers in the oven on a low temperature until any leftover/residual wax has melted. Give the container a wipe with a paper towel and you're good to go! From pill boxes to storing cotton balls, there's no reason your Young Mary's container can't be used again and again.
Are you vegan friendly?
- Of course we are! Young Mary's candles are 100% vegan. What does that mean? That means everything both inside and outside of our candles are animal and cruelty free. We use a vegetable/mineral blend wax (no beeswax) and each of our candles is fragranced with oils that are all 100% vegan and paraben free. We even use vegan friendly premium labels for all of our products and you won't find any animal by-products anywhere near our production lines and manufacturing.
Do you really make every candle?
- Yes we do! From melting the wax, to adding the oils and pouring your candle - each step of Young Mary's manufacturing process is started and completed by human hands. It may take longer, but this is how we're able to guarantee quality. Patience and care goes into every product that has our name. We wouldn't have it any other way.
